Avion Express to provide two A320 for Icelandic new entrant.

Avion Express has reached a long term agreement to provide lift to a new entrant on the Icelandic Travel Market. WOW Air was officially launched today during a press conference in Reykjavik, Iceland. According to the agreement, Avion Express will provide two Airbus 320 aircraft with start of operation in summer 2012. Based in Reykjavik, Iceland, WOW Air plans to operate to 12 different european destinations. The news was extremely well received leading to a temporary shutdown of the internet site (www.wowair.com) due to a Tsunami of visits by eager travellers.  

Avion Express to fly Football Club Sion to Madrid

Football Club FC Sion and Avion Express have signed a contract to fly the team to Madrid on Wednesday the 14th of September for their first Europa League group stage match with Athletico Madrid. This flight will be operated by our Milan based A320. The game is scheduled on the 15th of September at the famous Vicente Calderon stadium. The aircraft will then return the team to Sion on the following day, Friday the 16th. The airline will use the symbolic flight numbers X9 1909 and X9 2011 to mark the year of the foundation of the club as well as this year‘s Swiss Cup win. Co-incidentally, Friday the 16th is the biggest day of the year for Sion Airport since it will be hosting the Breitling Sion Airshow International, the biggest airshow in Switzerland this year. Preparations are being made by the Airport to accomodate the Airbus 320 arrival. The airport director, Mr. Bernard Karrer, said that the A320 arrival with the FC Sion team would be a welcome addition to the Airshow program as aircraft of this size seldomly land at Sion Airport. Avion Express flies ADO Den Haag to victory in Kaunas

Avion Express was chartered by dutch professional football team ADO Den Haag to fly to Kaunas  for their first of two matches in the Euro League qualifying stage against Lithuanian team FK Tauras. Incidentally, ADO Den Haag won the match 3-2, putting them in a very favourable position for the return match in the Netherlands next week.

Avion Express launches Airbus 320 Passenger Operation.

Avion Express introduced today its first Airbus 320 passenger aircraft on its Air Operators Certificate.  The aircraft, with registration marks LY-VEX, will ferry today from Mirabel Airport in Montreal to Milano Malpensa Airport in Italy.  The last weeks it has been undergoing maintenance and cabin interior refurbishment at Mirabel Aero Services, Montreal. The aircraft will be operating charter flights out of Milano, Malpensa, under the brand „Avion Express Italia“. Avion Express Managing Director Aleksei Lupitski said that „the introduction of this first Airbus 320 aircraft marks a new era in the company history“. LY-VEX is the first Airbus aircraft to be registered in Lithuania.

David Masson, Chairman of the Board, said on the occasion that „he is very excited about this important milestone and that he was extremely pleased with the smooth introduction of the aircraft mainly due to the professionalism of the staff of Avion Express“. The first flight is scheduled on Sunday April 3rd from Milano to Malaga.
